University of Suffolk at East Coast College

The graduation ceremony for the University of Suffolk at East Coast College will take place at 2pm on Friday 18 October 2024 at Great Yarmouth Minster.

More information about the event is provided below.

Invitations to the graduation ceremonies will be sent to eligible students from 1 August onwards.

To register your interest in attending - or not attending - your graduation ceremony, you will need to complete the Graduation Registration form in OASIS. This will take you through a few steps during which you will check your name, confirm your address, and indicate whether you wish to attend your ceremony. The online registration form will be available until noon on Tuesday 24 September 2024. Please complete your registration as soon as possible after receiving your invitation email, and by noon on Tuesday 24 September 2024 at the latest.

Whether you wish to attend your ceremony or not, it is important that you complete your online Graduation Registration when you receive your invitation so that we have a correct record of your name and the address where you can be contacted until November 2024. If you are not attending and you do not complete the form to provide your correct address details, you will not receive your certificate.

Initial ticket allocation - All graduating students will be able to purchase up to two guest tickets initially. Each guest ticket will cost £15. Details of how to purchase your guest tickets will be sent by email to the address provided when you complete the graduation registration form, copied to your University email address and saved in your correspondence history in OASIS. The deadline for purchasing the initial tickets is noon on Thursday 26 September 2024.

Children under the age of 5 years do not require a ticket but will be required to share a seat with a ticketed adult. Children aged 5 years and over will require a ticket and will count towards your ticket allocation. All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.

All guest tickets must be purchased in advance. A few days before your graduation ceremony, you will be sent an email containing your purchased guest e-tickets. Please remember to bring this email with you to your graduation ceremony.

Additional tickets - Subject to availability, additional tickets can be purchased at a cost of £15 per ticket. If additional tickets are available after all students have had the opportunity to purchase their initial two guest tickets, we will contact you by email on Friday 27 September 2024 with details of how to purchase additional tickets.

Please note that we cannot guarantee that additional tickets will be available. Any additional tickets that are available will be sold on a first come, first served basis, and there may be a limit on the number of additional tickets that each graduating student can purchase. It is not possible to reserve additional tickets in advance.

Gowning - All students attending graduation are required to wear the appropriate academic dress, ordered from Ede and Ravenscroft. You will be sent an email, normally within three working days of completing your online graduation registration form, with details of how to order your gown. You will be able to collect your ordered gown from the Priory Centre on the day of your ceremony.

If you have not received your email about ordering your gown by Wednesday 25 September 2024, please contact the Graduation Office (graduation@uos.ac.uk).

Photography - Professional photographic services will be provided by Ede and Ravenscroft in the Minster following the ceremony. You can order your chosen photography package in advance on the Ede and Ravenscroft website when you order your gown.

Gowning will take place in The Priory Centre, next to Great Yarmouth Minster. Please register your arrival when you enter the church. You will need to have your tickets to hand and only guests with tickets will be able to enter the venue.

The Priory Centre will be open between 12.30pm and 1.30pm for you to collect your gown. All guests need to be in their seats in Great Yarmouth Minster by 1.45pm.

Pre-ceremony photographs will take place outside and inside the Minster. Official photography of individuals and course groups will take place in the Minster directly after the graduation ceremony.

The ceremony itself will start at 2.00pm and last approximately one hour.

After the ceremony, there will be a celebratory reception where graduates and their guests have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments and meet with other graduates, course leaders, managers, honorary graduates and other specially invited guests.

There are pay and display car parks next door to and opposite Great Yarmouth Minster.

The local or national press may attend the ceremony and publicise the event. In previous years the newspaper has included the list of names of all graduates who attend their graduation ceremony. If you would prefer for your name not to be included, you will need to opt out when you confirm your attendance and purchase your guest tickets.
