Overview

Event management is an exciting and dynamic profession. It involves conceptualising, planning, organising and finally executing an event, and involves a range of activities from marketing and PR to project management.

This course provides students with a relevant qualification to progress into a rapidly expanding industry. It has been designed in consultation with organisations involved in the industry and offers guest lecturers, site visits and the opportunity to get involved in real projects.

Assessment is through a combination of coursework, practical work, presentations and examinations.

Content and Modules

The degree is broken down into a number of subjects that combine essential business management skills with sector specific knowledge. The first year is designed to provide fundamental business management and event management knowledge. The second year develops this with additional delivery in research and specialised modules. The third year provides more specialised modules and the opportunity to participate in industry-based projects.

Suffolk One Diploma in Hotel Management

Students who successfully complete and gain the required UCAS Tariff Points on the Extended Diploma in Hotel Management at Suffolk One can progress directly on to the UCS BA (Hons) Hospitality Management, the BA (Hons) Tourism Management and Hospitality Management or the BA (Hons) Event Management degrees.

Opportunities on completion of the course

Opportunities in event management exist in areas such as hotels, commercial companies, promotional companies, local councils, nightclubs, bars and restaurants, outdoor activity organisations, public attractions and charities.
