The UCS Student Support team offers a range of information, advice and guidance services to students in Ipswich and across the Learning Network.
The team are committed to offering a free, confidential, impartial and experienced service, which meets the needs of the student community and is on hand to provide one-to-one advice and guidance. The team conforms to professional standards and is committed to a rapid response to all students. Student Support are available via e-mail, telephone and face-to-face contact.

Careers and Employability Service
The careers guidance service provides students with the information, advice and guidance they need before, during and after their time at UCS. The service is available to all current and prospective students.
The commitment to careers and employability across the curriculum is an important characteristic of the courses offered at UCS and students are encouraged to get involved in exciting opportunities that can greatly enhance employability.
You will have the opportunity to consider your future career and prepare to find employment. Guidance counsellors offer confidential advice, interviews and workshops. Support is available to develop important careers related skills and knowledge, such as CV design and interview techniques.
We also hold Career events and fairs, which enable students and potential employers to network. These events are arranged each academic year. Up-to-date information about jobs and graduate careers is also available through the virtual learning environment and the online Job Shop.

The UCS Careers Service offer a range of initiatives to promote communication and networking between business and students.
Childcare
Student Support offers advice about childcare opportunities both on and off the Ipswich Campus, and can help with possible benefits and funding that may be available to students who have dependants.
Counselling
Independent, impartial and professional counselling is available to students in Ipswich and across the Learning Network. This support is confidential, enabling students to discuss any problems they may have. Counselling can also offer help with exam anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems and emotional issues.
Disability and Specific Learning Difficulties
UCS aims to create an environment which is accessible for students with a disability, specific learning difference, long-term medical condition and/or mental health issues. Staff provide the following:

Finance
Student Support offers help with how to apply for bursaries and other financial benefits and support.
Health and wellbeing
UCS offers students guidance on how to register with a local GP and on how to access local sexual health and welfare advice. UCS will also be able to supply contact details for other local health and well-being services, on a confidential and impartial basis.
Independent academic support
Student Support can offer support for students with complaints, academic appeals and disciplinary matters.
Multi-faith Chaplaincy
UCS is a multi-faith community and welcomes students from a diverse range of backgrounds. On the site of the Ipswich Campus there is a multi-faith chaplaincy welcoming both staff and students of all faiths and no faith.
Study Support
Advice is provided on study skills such as planning, time-keeping, completing assignments and revision.
