Learning Resources
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
UCS offers an innovative and modern approach to learning. The VLE, known as Wolsey, allows students to access announcements, timetables, assignments, course and module documents, discussion boards, and more, 24 hours a day from any internet connected device. It is also the primary method for lecturers to communicate with students, and students with each other, across the Learning Network. It creates new opportunities for innovative and interactive methods of communicating, assessment, learning and teaching.
Library services
The library plays an important role in the life of all students whether they are undertaking private study, using computers or working together as a group. The Ipswich Campus library and the libraries at the centres in Bury St Edmunds, Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Otley provide a wide range of learning resources to meet the needs of their students.
The libraries hold large collections of books, journals, and audio visual resources, chosen to support the teaching and study of the courses on offer at each location. The libraries also have a significant number of online e-books, databases and other electronic subscriptions, such as full-text journal articles, which provide students with 24-hour access through any web enabled computer.
In all centres there are teams of professional library staff who will help students with their research and with access to resources.

Computing and IT services
The Ipswich Campus and each of the centres provide up-to-date technology to ensure studying is as easy as possible for all students. Common facilities include Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access), 1GB access to the internet, a personal email address, secure network storage, print and scan facilities, and a collection of multimedia CDs. All UCS students can access Wolsey (the Virtual Learning Environment), their email account, network storage, course areas and community areas from any internet connected device within or outside UCS.
