Course summary

Event management is an exciting profession which demands a lot of hard work and dynamism. It involves conceptualising, planning, organising and finally executing an event. These courses provide students with more detailed knowledge of the hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors.

Course structure

These courses are broken down into a number of subjects that combine to give business management and sector specific knowledge. The first year is designed to provide basic business management and event management knowledge. The second year develops this with additional delivery in research and specialised modules.

Assessment

Assessment is through a combination of coursework, practical work, presentations and examinations. Detailed feedback and tutorial support is key to the delivery and assessment of these courses.

After the course

Opportunities in event management exist in areas such as hotels, commercial companies, promotional companies, local councils, nightclubs, bars and restaurants, outdoor activity organisations, public attractions and charities. Graduates can also progress to the final year of BA (Hons) Event Management at the Ipswich Campus.
