Post-experience and Continuing Professional Development Health and Social Care courses

UCS is the key provider of professional healthcare courses across Suffolk and Great Yarmouth. UCS works closely with employers, the NHS locally and regionally, local government and other not-for-profit organisations, key stakeholders and industrial partners, and Suffolk County Welfare Group. It places an emphasis on the employability skills of graduating students.

The School of Health, Science and Social Care and the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Interprofessional Studies at UCS work in partnership to offer students a diverse range of professional development modules designed to enhance the quality of care they provide. The modules provide qualified staff with the diversity of skills and knowledge required to develop as innovative practitioners and the opportunity to reflect on new ways of working.

Students taking courses within the health-focused schools have access to the state-of-the-art Clinical Skills Lab at the Ipswich Campus. The lab replicates a clinical environment, and provides a perfect area for teaching and simulation of clinical skills across professional boundaries. It can simulate an acute ward, and offers students access to the latest equipment and facilities as found in clinical practice today.

Students develop new skills in leadership and supervision, business acumen in health and social care delivery, new ways of working within health and social care, and become more responsive to integrated services and their approach to health, education and social care delivery.
