Suffolk and Norfolk Secondary SCITT

The Suffolk and Norfolk Initial Teaching Training programmes for both Primary and Secondary teachers aim to bring together the very best of school centred and academic training to produce competent and confident Newly Qualified Teachers who consider and reflect upon the purposes of education as well as having high levels of knowledge, understanding and skills in the learning and teaching of children. We offer three programmes in which the training is based mainly in schools:

  • Primary SCITT (School Centred Initial teacher Training)
  • Secondary SCITT
  • Graduate Teacher Programme

Typical Entry Requirements:

Entry requirements are laid down by the Teacher Development Agency and are:

  • A UK degree (or equivalent) with at least 50% covering the subject students wish to teach.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above.

All entrants must have the capability to meet the required Standards for QTS by the end of their training and must possess appropriate personal and intellectual qualities to be teachers.

Entrants are advised to spend some time in a secondary school prior to application.

Subject to satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau check and ISA registration.

Ipswich Campus (campus code I), plus placements

Duration:

One year full-time.
