The Award is designed to contribute towards the skills, knowledge and understanding for the Lifelong Learning Sector (LLUK) introductory standards. The qualification provides a firm practical foundation for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train. It is designed as a qualification which will equip a wide range of teachers/trainers/tutors and facilitators (e.g., support staff and technicians) to deliver learning.
This Award has been designed to fully meet new statutory requirements for those teaching in the Learning and Skills Sector. From September 2007, the PTLLS Award will be a mandatory minimum qualification for all those teaching in the Learning and Skills Sector. Upon successful completion of this Award students will be conferred with a Threshold status to teach.

Provide an initial training of a high quality for practising and intending teachers/tutors/trainers in the lifelong learning sector that meets the requirements of Threshold Status for those teaching/tutoring/training in the lifelong learning sector as articulated by Lifelong Learning UK
