Suffolk Business School
Suffolk Business School has evolved into its current form over a period of 25 years. The School has over 450 students, 20 staff and a portfolio of courses which comprises of 15 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. This is supplemented with a number of short courses for professional development.
The School enjoys established links with academic institutions in the US and Europe to extend the learning experience for students. For example, the MBA students currently enjoy spending a week at Suffolk University in Boston, Massachusetts where they receive further tuition and undertake consultancy for local firms.
Of great importance to staff and student are the School's purposeful links with business in the area. These mean that courses are developed with active input from representatives from local businesses who also make very useful contributions to our courses. Guest lecturers and masterclasses delivered by a variety of business people offer our students unique insights in the practice of Business Management, in a range of contexts, and the immediate issues facing them. These businesses (large and small) are also a source of project and internship opportunities for our students.
The team are proud of their innovative curriculum that is driven by the need to support the current and future requirements of the regional workforce and career aspirations of our students. The programmes are designed to develop knowledge, academic practice as well as ‘employability’ skills, so that all graduates can function in the workplace effectively and with confidence. We believe that management development is best delivered in context, therefore a number of programmes offer sector-specific focus. Examples of these are the Event, Leisure and Tourism undergraduate courses. Suffolk Business School also offers unique Foundation degrees that enables people to learn while they work.
We are particularly proud of our commitment to students as individuals, demonstrated through a highly effective tutorial policy. This means that all students have easy access to all Suffolk Business School staff, enabling them to gain the personal and academic support they might need, when they need it.
