Marc O'Day is Course Leader of the BA (Hons) Film and Media Studies, on which he teaches critical and theoretical modules such as Screen Studies, The Hollywood Blockbuster, Media in Everyday Life, Critical Approaches to Media Research, British Cinema Since the Sixties and Media, Identity and Consumer Culture. He also supervises dissertations and convenes the group sessions for the Level 3 Humanities work experience module Professional Practice. His tastes are catholic, spanning high and popular culture in film, television, fiction, football, fashion and contemporary social life. He has published work on the writers Angela Carter and J.G. Ballard, directors David Cronenberg and David Lynch, the sixties television series The Avengers, 'action babe' cinema such as Charlie's Angels and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and postmodernism and television. He is currently co-editing a book on popular cultural representations and issues of honour.
