David was a student at Ipswich School of Art followed by Brighton Polytechnic, School of Art and The Slade School, where he studied Sculpture.  Throughout this period he used Photography as a research tool and eventually, after leaving The Slade, worked in Rome as a photographer.

Later whilst developing a career in Sculpture, he was Visiting Artist at Harrow School.

Whilst Sculpture has always been his core interest, he has developed a wide ranging practice including, drawing, printmaking, ceramics and a developing interest in architectural practice.

David has taught across many age ranges and on many courses, including being Head of Foundation Studies, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Art and Design, Module Leader BA Applied Arts and Module contributor to MA Design Theory and Practice.  He is currently Head of Fine Art at UCS.

Currently David is engaged in the production of a body of drawings which are derived from the notion of drawing as a spontaneous yet sustained process, not reliant on the depiction of object or need for subject.
