2008

2004

Oct-Dec

  • Business case is submitted by project team to HEFCE for £15 million of funding. Click here for details
  • First consultation meeting held with education representatives and Suffolk businesses about the planned curriculum.
  • Suffolk County Council's executive committee agree to commit £13 million to the project to secure land for the central campus in Ipswich and local learning centres across the county.

Jul-Sep

  • EEDA commits an initial land contribution to the project at the Rope Walk site formerly owned by Suffolk County Council.
  • UCS website – www.ucs.ac.uk - launched at Suffolk Show.

Apr-Jun

  • Ipswich Borough Council pledge land donation to the value of £9 million to the project. 

Jan-Mar

  • Successful bid to HEFCE, securing £245,000 from the development fund to produce a business case for a university campus in Suffolk. 

 

2003

Apr-Jun

  • Suffolk County Council reinvigorated the long-held ambitions for a university for Suffolk by establishing a stakeholder group, made up of senior representatives from University of East Anglia, University of Essex, Suffolk College, East of England Development Agency (EEDA), Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Suffolk Learning and Skills Council, Suffolk County Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk Chief Executive's Group and Suffolk Development Agency.

 

2002

  • The University of East Anglia and the University of Essex joined with Suffolk College to discuss a radical collaborative approach to extending higher education in Suffolk
