University Campus Suffolk students celebrate first graduation in Ipswich

On Wednesday 29 October and Thursday 30 October, over 900 University Campus Suffolk students from the main Ipswich campus, UCS Otley and UCS at Suffolk New College graduated at Trinity Park. As the first cohort of students to graduate in Ipswich as University Campus Suffolk students, it was a memorable and momentous occasion for all involved.

Professor Bob Anderson Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer opened the ceremony and warmly welcomed all students and their proud families and friends to the ceremony and said, ‘it is with great pleasure and pride that I congratulate the students who have graduated today. Forming part of the first cohort of students to graduate from University Campus Suffolk, and having experienced the transition of higher education in Suffolk, these first graduates have played a significant and important role in the development of University Campus Suffolk. I would like to thank them for all their help and support and I wish them every success in the future, and hope that they continue to be ambassadors for the university.’

Master of ceremonies was Christine Dobson, Executive Dean, Directorate of Academic Development. Honorary Graduates included Lady Barbara Judge, Baroness Barbara Thomas Young, Liam (Billy) Brennan, Lord Cunliffe, Kirsten Rausing and Professor Bill Tancred MBE who each attended one of the 6 ceremonies and felt extremely privileged to do so. The awards were conferred by Dr Tony Rich, Registrar and Secretary at the University of Essex and Professor Andy Downton, Pro- Vice-Chancellor (Learning and Teaching), of the University of Essex. The ceremony proved to be an extremely enjoyable and significant event for students and staff alike.
