University Campus Suffolk School of Arts and Humanities Lecture Series: Matthew Darbyshire, Artist's Talk

The ubiquitous New Labour cultural slogan 'Access for All' implies an insidious connection between access to the arts and access to economic prosperity and material consumption.  In installations such as the riotously colourful Funhouse (2009) Matthew Darbyshire contends that this assault on perceived cultural exclusivity has resulted not in universal emancipation but in a one-size-fits-all blandness that actually masks a society still driven by inequality.

The lectures series are primarily for UCS staff and undergraduates but we would also like to extend an invitation to friends who wish to join us at these events.

Admission is free and will be held on Wednesday 17 March 2010 (2-3pm) in Lecture Theatre W013 at the Ipswich Waterfront building.
