Internship programme 2012

UCS and business have been working together to offer Summer Internship programmes, usually consisting of a period of 6-8 weeks of full-time work, specifically designed for undergraduate students. Tailored to enhance the future employability of UCS graduates and support undergraduate career development, we have been keen to draw in elements of the recruitment process to offer valuable experience at every stage, from promotion to student application, interview and selection, Internship appointment and beyond.

2008 saw the launch of Internships offered by Willis Ltd, AXA and BT. These Internships have enabled students to gain a first hand insight into industry across a range of business areas, develop and perfect those transferable skills and boost confidence when preparing for work on graduation.

But don’t take our word for it...

“The Internship allows you to convert the theoretical learning from the classroom into getting practical experience in a professional, real life global industry. It is a great opportunity if you'd like to experience an office environment but don't want to be stuck filing all summer. I have been given real tasks to undertake whilst being encouraged to develop my knowledge"  Abi, Internship programme 2008

This year’s Internships offer a range of opportunities for UCS students to gain experience in:

  • Event Management
  • Nature and Conservation
  • Marketing
  • Software Development
  • Children’s Outdoor Educational Projects
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Visual Arts Projects
  • Research
  • Project Management
  • Finance and Accounts

To support students through the process the UCS Careers and Employability Service also assists students with CV writing support and interview preparation.
