I heard about the Internship at Willis through the UCS Careers and Employability Service. I decided to apply for the Internship as I knew what a fantastic opportunity it was for me, in terms of improving my CV and developing my employability skills.

I went to a presentation by Willis associates which gave me an insight into how Willis operates. It convinced me I should apply for the Internship at Willis as it was the best opportunity I had for gaining work experience during the summer break.

From the beginning of the Internship Willis treated us very professionally; not just as graduates, but us as potential future employees. We were asked to provide a professional CV and covering letter, attend a two-stage interview as well as meeting the CEO of Willis, Sir Ian Gale. It was a challenging recruitment process, but it gave me valuable experience in dealing with high pressure job interviews, behaving professionally and getting an insight into how a global company operates. It was a valuable experience for someone who will be looking for a job in about two year’s time.

Whilst at Willis, I worked in the Group Finance department and the Accounts Payable department. Everything was planned and prepared very professionally. I was told that what Willis associates look for in their employees are people skills and being a team player as well as having the necessary skills to work for Willis.

I enjoyed my time at Willis and I hopefully look forward to working for them again this summer. Through undertaking the Internship at Willis I not only gained experience that looks fantastic on my CV, but I also developed confidence in my own abilities as an employee.

I would like to say a big thank you to Willis for taking me on as an Intern and allowing me to work for such a well-known global company.
