Music Production Students work at the Status Quo Gig

Working with ‘Live Here Now’, students from the FdA in Music Production at UCS Bury St Edmunds gained first hand experience in ‘live’ recording at the Status Quo gig held at The Regent Theatre in Ipswich on the 17th February 2009.

Live Here Now, established in 2004, produce and sell live concert recordings within minutes of an event finishing. The project is run by a team of industry professionals who combine many years of experience. Whilst planning their Ipswich gig, Live Here Now were keen to engage with University Campus Suffolk students to work alongside their technical teams and support the distribution of merchandise, on the night. In return, students were given a detailed presentation and tour of Live Here Now’s work and an exciting insight into the music industry and technology used.

“At University Campus Suffolk we really value employers’ involvement in supporting student career development. This is a great example of employers and undergraduate students working together for both their benefit.” Chantalle Hawley - University Campus Suffolk Careers and Employability Adviser

“Students showed a great work attitude, were intelligent & astute, which made the practical tasks they completed much smoother & the questions they asked much more engaging.

The way they worked as a team was excellent & the communication & interaction they had with the fans was really positive. I have to say that I felt that they really became part of my team for the day, rather than just being an external unit.

“We had a great show with you all & I hope that we get to work together again soon. Many, many thanks to them all” MJ – Mute Records/ Live Here Now
