UCS has developed taster sessions in a range of subject areas to provide prospective students with an insight into what they can study at university. For information on the subjects available, follow the links to the tasters in each UCS School.
When?
Tasters are available throughout term time, and we aim to offer them at dates and times to suit those who wish to attend. Some tasters have specific dates set due to the availability of specialist facilities.
Where?
Most tasters can be offered at UCS Ipswich, but can also be offered within your school/college or in the UCS Centres. Please be aware that some tasters require specialist facilities and will therefore only be offered within the UCS network.
Can I book a taster as an individual?
Yes! If you would like to attend a taster but are not part of a group, please contact Chris Garrett who will be able to confirm when the next taster is scheduled for your subject area. If one is not available, Chris will let you know when the taster becomes available, or will be able to arrange for you to visit UCS to meet a course tutor and have a tour of the campus.
What happens at a UCS taster?
Taster sessions at UCS Ipswich will normally include a tour of the campus, library and accommodation. This will last one hour on top of the time scheduled for the taster session, and can take place at the beginning or end of the visit. Lunch or refreshments will not be provided, but there are facilities on-site for groups to have a break or lunch if required. The Schools Liaison team can also offer further talks or workshops in areas relating to Making University Choices, Student Finance, UCAS and Personal Statements. The activities around the subject taster can be tailored to the requirements of the group attending.
Will the taster session fit into the school curriculum?
Tasters have been developed to provide students with an insight into the range of degrees available at university. The workshop leaders are happy to discuss taster content with the organiser prior to the visit to ensure the session meets the needs of the group attending. Please contact us to discuss.
