Virtual Learning Environment

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), also known as LearnUCS, allows students 24 hour access to announcements, timetables, assignments, course and module documents, discussion boards, and more.

It is also the primary method for lecturers to communicate with students, and students with each other, across the UCS Network|. It creates new opportunities for innovative and interactive methods of communicating, assessment, learning and teaching.

The Elevate Team within Academic Development| enhance learning through innovative technologies, and are responsible for LearnUCS. The team work closely with staff and students to encourage, enable and evaluate the use of technology in learning and teaching at the UCS. The outcome for the student is a richer learning experience. In particular to:

  • Help staff to integrate innovative technologies to enhance their teaching programmes
  • Share innovation and good practice through facilitating an active community
  • Evaluate the impact of enhancements on the student learning experience
  • Develop and pilot ways to enhance and develop learning through innovative technologies

More information around the Elevate Team, the work they do, and the impact this is having on staff and students is available from their blog|.
