All of the off-campus accommodation promoted by UCS is provided by members of the UCS Accredited Accommodation Scheme. This scheme ensures very high standards of buildings, facilities, furnishings, maintenance and repair as well as support for student residents through on-site or local management. Utility bills and broadband access are included in the rent (unless otherwise specified) and all accredited properties are within walking distance or an easy bus ride from the Ipswich campus.
The range of off-campus accommodation includes single rooms in shared houses, self contained flats and cluster flats in small residential blocks. Weekly rentals range from £56.00 - £100.00 inclusive.
A note on contracts and tenancy agreements
Off-campus accommodation is managed by the property owner or their representative. Students intending to take accommodation will be required to sign up to a tenancy agreement. There is no legal connection with UCS. Whilst the Accommodation team will do all they can to help all students find the right accommodation, it is the student's responsibility to understand and agree / sign the tenancy and to determine the suitability of the accommodation depending on their needs and their ability to pay the rent. Students should not sign a tenancy agreement with any accommodation provider until they are 100% happy with their choice.
To view the various types of accommodation available please browse through the Accommodation Database from the link below. This is not an exhaustive list of properties and UCS cannot guarantee the availability of specific properties or rooms. To allow us to assist all students in identifing which properties are best suited for their requirements they should complete an application form. They should indicate any properties that interest them on their application form and we will supply further information on them, and any similar ones, subject to availability.
Group Requests
If you and your friends wish to live together you can make a group request. Each member of the group must complete their own accommodation request form, state who they wish to live with and submit the forms within a 24 hour period. Any member of the group not following these instructions may be discounted from the group. The UCS Accommodation Office requires all forms to be handed in at the same time from a group in order to determine the size of the property required, and to ensure that all members of the group are happy to live with each other.
