UCS does not own or manage accommodation available to students but works closely with private and commercial providers to meet the volume of demand and the accommodation needs of the student body.
The Accommodation Office welcomes contact from any potential accommodation provider and will be able to provide further information and answer questions on the requirements of student accommodation and the official UCS Accreditation Scheme.
The Accreditation Scheme
Membership of the Accreditation Scheme is awarded to accommodation providers who meet the standards of the scheme. These standards apply to the physical condition, fitness for purpose and management of properties.
What are the standards required?

For the purpose of the Accreditation Scheme all properties shall be dealt with as high risk houses in multiple occupation (HMO)

All properties shall meet the decent home standard

It meets the current minimum standard for housing

It is in a reasonable state of repair

It has reasonably modern facilities and services

It provides a reasonable degree of thermal comfort.
