Regenerative Medicine and Science of Healthy Ageing

The School of Science, Technology and Health| are currently developing two new and exciting Masters programmes in:

  • Regenerative Medicine
  • Science of Healthy Ageing

Postgraduate students will be among the first to use the brand new state-of-the-art facilities in the James Hehir Building in Ipswich, and applications are welcome for September 2012 entry.

MSc Regenerative Medicine*

Regenerative Medicine is an emerging field of medicine with enormous interest from the commercial sector and from healthcare providers world-wide. This Masters programme will examine stem cell biology and tissue engineering and their application within disease and drug discovery. It will examine the regulatory environment and ethical issues surrounding regenerative medicine. The course will also investigate the commercialisation and translation of current therapies aimed at bringing research from “bench-to-bedside”. The course will be of interest to students looking to study a multidisciplinary approach in this vibrant area of endeavour.

MSc Science of Healthy Ageing*

The proportion of people over the age of 60 is the fastest growing segment of the population worldwide with a related increase in the healthcare burden due to the impact of age-associated disorders. The MSc Science of Healthy Ageing will examine the molecular and cellular basis of ageing in a number of physiological systems. It will also outline intervention strategies both current and in development. The course is designed to provide the student with a contemporary view of both issues and solutions in this most important of healthcare and societal challenges.
