The Office for Research and Enterprise promotes and supports research and scholarship across UCS. It catalyses the development of research bases in areas of expertise in every academic school within the organisation, ensuring that learning and teaching is underpinned by national and internationally recognised research activity.
Objectives
The Office for Research and Enterprise has a number of strategic objectives for research:

To effectively promote research and scholarship both within UCS and externally, and to support our academic schools in this mission;

To support the Schools in increasing collaboration with high quality research partners;

To support the Schools in securing research funds;

To catalyse the formation of research centres in each of our academic schools based on leading edge research;

To support the development and growth of enterprise initiatives in each of our academic schools underpinned by research centres and other commercial opportunities;

To collaborate with HR to establish protocols for professorial and other research staff appointments and develop a research career structure;

To create and promote an environment that will attract and support academics highly skilled in research;

To establish an institutional repository for research outputs; and
-
To chair the UCS Research Committee and Ethics sub-committee.
The team
The team in the Office of Research and Enterprise works across all academic schools within UCS. Link roles have been established with the schools to provide regular points of contact.

Ongoing projects
Research Associates from the Office for Research and Enterprise continue to be involved in a number of projects. These include: a study into early childhood dysfluency; a project looking at information channels for family carers; an evaluation of family networks project; evaluation of primary care health coaching; and desk research to support work in public health and in rural transport. Most of these projects are conducted in partnership with colleagues in the academic Schools making the most of subject specialisms and existing experience within the Office team.
