The Suffolk Leadership Academy provides a local centre of excellence to develop Suffolk's NHS leaders. It is a joint venture between all NHS organisations in Suffolk working together with UCS. It is a response to the Darzi Next Steps Review and the challenge from the NHS Chief Executive, David Nicholson, in 'Inspiring Leaders: Leadership for Quality':
"While we have fantastic and talented leaders in the NHS to take us to the next stage, we need to embrace more people with different skills and backgrounds and support the development of healthcare staff in a sustained way." David Nicholson, NHS Chief Executive
The Academy has been established at UCS to provide delegates with local development opportunities to give them the confidence and skills they need to prepare to join the NHS' next generation of leaders. The Academy supports Suffolk's Talent and Leadership System, which is being developed jointly with all NHS organisations in the county. The Academy will support local health services to grow Suffolk's in-house capacity and capability to lead and manage services now and in the future.
How does the Suffolk Leadership Academy work?
The Academy provides services for self-directed delegates. Delegates can have access to a range of services including:

Development of further Leadership Academies
The Suffolk Leadership Academy's reputation for delivering high quality and innovative leadership development has recently led to its expansion into Norfolk and the formation of the Norfolk Leadership Academy.
UCS now invites other organisations to take part in leadership development with the Academy and, thereby, improve standards of leadership locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
