This module is designed to provide an introduction to research methods and allow a set of important study skills to be developed. Research is a fundamental skill within the social sciences and requires a firm foundation in thinking about concepts, ethics and values. It allows for study skills to be developed alongside subject knowledge and ability.
This module will introduce a range of studies and methodological issues to students. The conceptual issues and research design issues covered will provide the foundation for the level 5 Quantitative and Qualitative Data modules. The module will allow students to develop an awareness of research issues and examples of research, whilst also beginning to develop their own research and study skills.
