Rationale
The purpose of this module is to introduce students to the applicatyion of forensic psychology. It will involve a discussion of the theory and practice of contemporary forensic psychology, and an exploration of the role forensic psychology plays in relation to criminal behaviour and the law. In studying this module, students will appreciate the interaction between psychology and investigative processes, and psychology in the courtroom. This module will look at issues of risk assessment and management of violent and sexual offenders, as well as dealing with some important contemporary issues such as the psychology of terrorism and the use of new technologies in deviant behaviour and criminal offending.
