Rationale
Sociology emerged out of a number of competing models of thought. These debates underpin both theoretical and practical approaches to the study of groups in society. This module introduces key concepts in the form of dichotomies. By comparing and contrasting core dichotomies, students will begin to use analytical and evaluative skills. The key oppositions studied on this module will provide a framework that students can apply to the study of many other areas of sociology. This module will provide certain key elements in a conceptual vocabulary.
