This module is intended to allow students to explore in some depth an important book within their field of study. Students will read one key book which relates to either psychology, sociology, youth studies or criminology. The aim is for students to engage critically with a key text, then look at more recent developments in a literature review and provide some evaluative comparisons between the current state of knowledge in this topic area and the book. The emphasis will be upon how the book has influenced subsequent research. This module allows students to engage with one set of ideas for a whole module rather than focusing on a range of ideas, books or articles in many more content driven modules.
