School of Arts and Humanities Staff Profile - Dr Pat Hurrell

Dr Pat Hurrell is Lecturer in Visual History and Theory in Photography.

She gained her first degree at Suffolk College in 1998 and progressed to an MA in History and Theory of Modern Art at the University of Essex. This led to a scholarship-funded PhD within the same institution. During her doctoral studies, she taught on courses in the History and Theory of Modern art as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. 
 
Since being awarded a PhD in October 2004, Pat has completed a book about the East Anglian sculptor Bernard Reynolds, which has just been published. She is well versed in both the cultural and historical importance of the photographic image, and lectures regularly accross all 3 years of the BA.
