Rationale:
In light of the national drive towards life-long learning, employability and widened accessibility to higher education, this module aims to meet the needs of students and employers. The module will enable students to identify and utilise specific work-based learning opportunities and build a framework for life-long learning. This will enhance student’s employability at the end of the programme through development of practical and work-based skills and knowledge. Further, students can augment key transferable skills, particularly problem solving, information technology, communication and team working. Experiencing real work can only extend and complement academic study. There is also value in fostering links between the programme and employers.
Students may find their own placement, but this will need to be approved as suitable by the Module Leader. All work based practice activities will be operated in accordance with UCS Policy and are covered by UCS risk Assessments and clear agreement with the external organisation of roles and activities.
