This module examines current trends in the Leisure and Tourism sectors within a global context. There is a merging of products and activities between these sectors, with the growth of sporting and other leisure based activities being redeveloped as special interest holidays, for example. The characteristics of the markets will be investigated and related to how products are changing to meet buyer expectations.
This module builds on the level 4 learning through giving students the opportunity to explore themes such as cultural tourism, volunteering as part of leisure and the role of stakeholders. It aims to encourage students to develop awareness and an academic understanding of the factors influencing leisure and tourism today.
