Rationale
Part-time students have the option of undertaking an additional piece of work to the Research Methods Dissertation. Satisfactory completion of this entitles them to an additional 20 credit points. Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of research and to present their research to their supervisor and the dissertation module leader. Within this additional piece of work the student has the opportunity to further extend their understanding of research methodology, to demonstrate awareness of where their research is situated in the relevant subject area, and critically evaluate ethical approaches, selected research method, findings and possible limitations. Pertinent and informed questions will allow the student to demonstrate their specialized knowledge of both the topic under investigation and the research process.
