The future of the professions

Wednesday 21st March 2012

10.00 – 12.00

(Registration 09.30 – 10.00)

Venue: UCS Waterfront Building, Ipswich

Facilitator: Professor Mike Saks

  (UCS Provost and Chief Executive)

Focus:  The Future of professional groups in society

The professions have undergone a rather mixed reception over time – not least in medicine and the wider health field

In the two decades after the Second World War professions were usually positively regarded, but since the rise of counterculture in the 1960s and 1970s they have been more critically evaluated – particularly in relation to service to the public.

This session explores the future of professions, particularly in the health arena, in the wak of past and present debates about public interest
