Work Based Learning

Overview

Work based learning enable students to recognize their need for personal and professional development whilst developing the students understanding of the KSF core dimensions.

The course also fosters reflective, searching, evaluating and discriminating skills in the student’s process of learning.

 

Content and Modules

  • Reflection in learning / reflection in practice.
  • Learning agreements and negotiated outcomes.
  • Personal and people development. 
  • Communication in difficult and complex circumstances.
  • Health, Safety and Security in the workplace.
  • Service Improvement – values, direction and strategies
  • Quality – initiating, monitoring and promoting.
  • Equality and Diversity – promoting, supporting and modeling.

How will I be assessed?

PART ONE

A power point presentation of one aspect of the KSF Core Dimensions, showing the underpinning knowledge base and how the student has developed their practice in their area of clinical care. This will be viewed by other members of the group and by the module leader and another lecturer.

Presentation due: Last taught day of the module.

Weighting: 40% of the module mark.

PART TWO

The completion of a portfolio of activities that are designed around the 6 NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework Core Dimensions. These activities are to be completed through interaction with the work area. It will be assessed by the University.

Weighting: 60% of the module mark

Submission: End of the semester in which the module is taught.
