Overview
This can be taken as an optional module for all of the Continuing Professional Development pathways.
The module is designed to enable participants to become competent to assess, plan, and implement and evaluate the specialised nursing care of the patient/client receiving renal replacement therapy. Physical and psychosocial assessment is very important to allow early detection of complications and evaluation of the multidisciplinary interventions. These aspects of nursing care will form a crucial component of this module where practitioners will be enabled to reflect in and on practice within their specialism, and raise the awareness of ethical debate around renal transplantation/ care issues will be explored and discussed.
Content and Modules
Level 5 or 6 (Undergraduate)
Pre-requisites: There are no specific pre-requisites for this module although access to the relevant clinical environment is essential to achieve the learning outcomes.
If you are already registered on a diploma or degree programme it is advisable to inform your course leader that you will be undertaking this module. This will enable your course leader to undertake the vital task of tracking your academic journey.

Summative Assesment
Assignment (50% weighting)
A written assignment utilising modular content which forms a critical analysis of a negotiated, contemporary aspect of patient care in relation to renal nursing. Word Limit: 3000 words.
Portfolio (50% weighting)
A Practice Portfolio related to Honours level Learning Outcomes.
