Overview

What are the aims of the module?

  • Provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate motivation and commitment to the development of your professional role as a teaching.
  • Engage you in comprehensive enquiry focused to learning, teaching and assessment.
  • Extend opportunities for critical self-evaluation.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the NMC Standards to support learning and assessment in practice – Stage 4 (2008).

Content and Modules

What will I study?

This module takes a workshop approach to support you in apply your learning related to teaching and assessment to practice, and in evidencing your professional development as a teacher to meet required professional standards. 

How will I be assessed?

A portfolio of evidence, and a critical evaluation.

Length

200 hours (distributed across three terms).

An additional 160 evidence gathering hours are needed to meet NMC Standards to support learning and assessment in practice (2008) (Stage 4).

Pre-requisites

You must have received academic advice regarding the appropriateness of this module and be enrolled on, or have completed, on of the following M Level modules: Learning and Teaching in Context, Assessment in Context, or Supporting Practice Learning (Mentoring) before commencing this module.

To meet the NMC Stage 4 Standards, you must be employed in a teaching role, with access to students studying an NMC approved programme, for sufficient hours to enable you to evidence the NMC required 360 hours of practice over 1 year normally.
