Service Users Perspectives on Long Term Paediatric Care

Overview

This module aims to:

  • Enhance the practitioner’s ability to critically analyse and debate the experiences and views of children and young people with chronic health conditions / disability.
  • Enable the practitioner to critically review current practice and articulate the skills required to explore the perspective of service users, including inherent challenges.
  • Develop the practitioner’s strategic thinking in relation to involving the service users in service development, so as to shape a more efficient, effective and appropriate service

Further Information

How will I be assessed?

A strategy for developing practice in partnership, with either children or young people with a chronic health condition or a disability, as service users. 

The practitioner will compile the strategy during the process of the module teaching and will share initial versions of the patches with their peers. The final assignment comprises the patches and a final synthesis. 

  1. Choose a policy relevant to your area of practice that has implications for developing service user involvement.
  2. Critically reflect on your interprofessional practice and collaboration in developing service user involvement
  3. What strategies do you consider need to be implemented in order to promote and develop service user involvement
  4. Reflect upon on the issues discussed in the other three patches and how has your thinking on service user involvement within your practice developed.
