Overview
UCS is pleased to offer a one day course for school teachers, support staff and CYP professionals in order to obtain an internationally recognised and certificated CPD qualification in keeping children safe online. EPICT UK| (European Pedagogical ICT) offers the EPICT E-safety Certificate| for those who take a single module, E-safety Awareness.
The Study Day
The course is held in a study stay at UCS with a qualified EPICT facilitator. The aim of this module is to enable educators to increase their awareness of e-safety and safeguarding within the context of their immediate educational organisation and their students’ wider environment.
The module assessment is designed as an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of e-safety methods, tools and support. Participants are required to present evidence of applied knowledge and practical application within their current practice.
Learning Outcomes

An improved ability to identify areas and issues, existent within the school and/or the wider student’s environment, which require to be considered when ensuring children’s wellbeing online

An increased knowledge of e-safety methodologies, support and best practice guidance

An improved ability to apply appropriate, practical e-safeguarding precautions within a teaching and learning environment

An enhanced understanding of recommended responses to safety breaches and incidents including reference to specialist advice and support.
Study and Assessment
This module has a notional study duration of 20 hours. However, study is flexible and dependent upon the pre-existing knowledge of the participant. Candidates choose one of the 6 tasks (below) providing a work based context for their portfolio-based assessment submission:

Dedicated e-safety awareness session with learners

Delivery of a standard curriculum lesson or series of lessons incorporating the use of online technology and including e-safety guidance

Staff development session

Parents session on e-safety

Governors / external stakeholder session on e-safety

Production of school reference / regulatory documentation in the area of e-safety.
School or College Certificate
A school or college may apply for the award of the EPICT E-safety Aware School/College certificate when all of the above tasks have been successfully completed across the organisation.
Further EPICT Awards
The E-safety Awareness certificate is the basis for further EPICT certificates|: Bronze, Silver and Gold awards which may be available at UCS in the future.
