MA Tourism Management*

Overview

The tourism industry makes a real contribution to the UK national and local economies so the overall aim of this course is to develop analytical and strategic management skills using concepts derived from a wide range of academic disciplines within the context of the Travel and Tourism sector. This will enable students to respond creatively and effectively to the challenges of the global business environment. Wherever possible, real organisational issues are used both for development and assessment purposes.

This course will allow the application of knowledge and practice-based research to a range of complex and diverse situations within the context of the Tourism Sector. It is important that students have a critical awareness of current issues in social, economic and environmental fields, informed by current practitioners as well as academic research.

The course will explore current and emerging techniques to allow the detailed investigation of current Tourism management issues. Students who undertake this course will develop a clear understanding of these Tourism management issues and apply them to a business context.
