Rationale

This module focuses on critically exploring issues related to assessment of learning in higher education. Assessment is the mode for evaluating quality learning derived through curricula and is critical to establishing fitness for practice within health and social care related professions. A range of assessment strategies will be explored from a number of different professional perspectives to encourage students to evaluate the efficacy of different approaches to assessment. Curriculum development needs to be reflective and mindful of the breadth of assessment methods, as well as compatible with student-centred learning. This module provides opportunities for students to consider and evaluate alternative modes of assessment which may foster innovation and generate greater variety into the learning experience.
