UCS is inviting applications from alumni of UCS who have graduated in the last three years for the post of Student Recruitment and Marketing Assistant (1 year fixed term post commencing during August 2012), based in the External Relations and Marketing team at UCS Ipswich. This post involves representing UCS at careers and higher education events across the UK; providing talks in local schools and colleges; supporting marketing and promotional activity; and assisting with the organisation of the UCS Open and post-application visits, taster days and campus visits.

Please note the post involves a considerable amount of travel.

Access to Careers Fairs

Whilst Careers Fairs offer fantastic opportunities to source paid work or experience, they can also be a good way to network with different employers and explore different types of careers, as well as developing confidence in self-presentation skills.

Access to the Careers Resource Area

Based on the first floor of the Waterfront Building at the Ipswich Campus, the Careers Resource Area contains free copies of:

 Directories of graduate employers and training

 Careers information leaflets and booklets

 Prospectuses outlining courses of postgraduate study

Graduate and Professional Employability Workshops

UCS Careers and Employability are working in conjunction with Career Directions to offer Graduate and Professional Employability Workshops at the Ipswich Waterfront Campus. The workshops are designed to support you in thinking about and increasing your “employability”, developing your approach to finding opportunities, and ultimately, to achieve success in finding a new job.

National Careers Service

Helping you to take the next step  

For those of you who graduated more than 3 years ago, the National Careers Service is available free to every adult in England and has already helped millions of people improve their working lives. It provides information, careers and skills advice that’s tailored to you. Help is available online, or with a careers adviser over the phone or face-to-face.

    If you want to know about the types of disability and childcare support available

    their careers advisers are professionally qualified and can give individual advice to help you make the right choices about learning and work. They can also help you to open a personal online Lifelong Learning  Account, which you can access whenever you need to keep track of your progress.
