David has been Chief Executive of the Haven Gateway Partnership since September 2007 overseeing its transition to a more delivery focussed Partnership, managing CLG Growth Funding and co-ordinating a single sub-regional delivery plan – the Integrated Development Programme.
Previously, David was Chief Executive of Bristol New Deal for Communities programme for 6 years and the Norwich NDC for 18 months, working in some of the country's most deprived urban estates. The Government sponsored NDC programmes was at the forefront of delivering the Government's Neighbourhood Renewal strategy and re-engaging residents in the regeneration of their communities. Before that, he worked in London as a Director of Create in Paddington and South Kilburn and project manager for the Lewisham 2000 programme, including securing the DLR Extension from Canary Wharf to Lewisham and Deptford Creekside.
David has a degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a post graduate degree in Town Planning with distinction as well as being an accredited project manager.
He was a Board Member of Inspire East, East of England’s Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Communities and a non-Executive Director of East of England Tourism. He has been a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster and the University of West of England between 1999 and 2009 delivering modules on managing complex projects in multi-agency environments and delivered a joint paper to the City Futures 2004 symposium in Chicago. Between 2003 and 2006 he was a CLG sponsored Neighbourhood Renewal Advisor and identified in 2010 as one of Suffolk’s 100 most influential people.
He lives in Mid-Suffolk, is married with three children.
