Stephanie Schober

Stephanie Schober studied Medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin and Dance Theatre at Laban. A recipient of the Bonnie Bird New Choreography Award she founded Schober & Dance Company in 2002. Since then she has created numerous touring productions for her company. They include Made Elsewhere (duet-2002), Inside Us(quartet-2003), Change (quartet 2004), Catch (duet-2005), Newly(duet-2007), The Accompanists (duet-2007), The Accompanists film (2009), created in collaboration with filmmaker Margaret Williams and TRAFFIC (trio-2011). She has also directed research projects and has been commissioned to create work in specific contexts. Many of her works are interdisciplinary collaborations with a particular focus on movement and sound.

Stephanie was a resident dance artist at the South Bank Centre and at Laban in 2003/4. Since then her works have been supported by Dance Web Europe, ROH2 at Royal Opera House, Laban Theatre, Dance 4, Déda and the Arts Council England. She has been touring her work extensively to small-scale venues in the U.K. and abroad in Belgium, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Spain. Her work has been featured at the British Dance Edition 2006 and 2008. Stephanie's commissioned works include Corporeality for Indian dance company Sankalpam’s UK tour (2010-11) and Sketch 1 & 2 for musicians and dancers in collaboration with composers Daniel Skoglund and Amanda Cole for Listen to the World!

Music festival/ Choreosound in Gothenburg (2009). She created works for third year students at Northampton University (2010), London Metropolitan University (2006 + 9), Northern School of Contemporary Dance (2007) and Laban (2003 – 6). During 2008 -9 she was a mentor for young choreographers as part of the Dance Beyond Borders project at London Metropolitan University and at Dancekiosk/ K3 in Hamburg (2008 - 9). She currently is a lecturer in dance at University Campus Suffolk.
