David Baldry

Senior Lecturer

School of Arts and Humanities

David studied at Ipswich School of Art, Brighton Polytechnic School of Art and the world renowned Slade School of Fine Art, where he studied Sculpture.  Throughout this period he used photography as a research tool. After leaving The Slade, David worked as a photographer in Rome.

During an early and developing career in Sculpture, he was invited to be the Visiting Artist and then Art Master at Harrow School. Sculpture has always been his core interest, however he has developed a wide range of interests including drawing, printmaking, photography and more recently, architectural practice.

Currently David is engaged in the production of a body of drawings derived from the notion of drawing as a spontaneous yet sustained process, not reliant on the depiction of object or need for subject.

David has taught across many age ranges and on a variety of courses as Head of Foundation Studies, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Art and Design, Module Leader BA (Hons) Applied Arts and module contributor to MA Design Theory and Practice.  He has led a cluster of courses at UCS including BA (Hons) Fine Art, BA (Hons) Film and BA (Hons) Photography.
