The Office of Academic Development

This newly defined Office facilitates, supports and enhances the quality of teaching, learning, assessment, and student experience across UCS. 

Teaching and learning at UCS strives to be motivating and innovative, informed by research and scholarly activity and benefiting from student engagement and feedback. It will provide a high quality student experience for all students, including those with specific needs, and will help them to achieve their full potential in employment and in life.

The Office of Academic Development delivers a range of initiatives, services and research in support of staff and students. The Office works closely with the Schools at UCS Ipswich| and across our Learning Network.|

Through the Office of Academic Development UCS aims;

  • To provide all students with a diverse and highly motivating range of learning experiences
  • To provide high quality, structured, progressive learning experience
  • To develop assessment practices which are developmental, transparent, relevant and fair and provide high quality, timely feedback
  • To deliver a curriculum incorporating broader transferable vocational and employability skills that encourage enterprise, entrepreneurship and innovation
  • To offer a wide range of modes of delivery and utilise current technologies to provide more flexible opportunities for study
  • To provide learning and teaching informed by high quality research and scholarly activity
  • To address issues of equality and diversity in the development of an internationalised curriculum
  • To enhance the academic staff profile through tailored recruitment and provide staff development opportunities in relation to teaching and learning

The Office also has responsibility for the Library and Learning Resources|.

The Office is led by Christine Dobson, who is a member of the UCS Executive|.
