Former Labour Politician, Tony McNulty, will host a guest lecture at UCS on Tuesday 21 February as part of the on-going UCS Academy Lecture Series|.
The lecture, entitled ‘All Watched Over by Media of Loving Grace’, will focus on the issue of relationships between human beings and machines defining our modernity as described in both Richard Brautigan’s poem, All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace, and Adam Curtis’s TV documentary series of the same name.
Since resigning from his position within the Government in 2009, the former Minister for London and Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform at the Department for Work and Pensions, and Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform has been writing, broadcasting and reflecting on politics and is also an avid blogger and tweeter. Drawing on his past experiences and using real-life examples from recent politics, he will discuss the relationship between the worlds of politics and the media.
