Representatives of the Suffolk events industry will meet on the 21 February to discuss and debate how the county can develop its role in the UK industry. The conference – conducted as part of the Britain for Events campaign – will feature speakers from the local events community as well as representatives from the initiative.

Joining representatives from Britain for Events will be a selection of industry experts from within Suffolk, including Christine Bond, Commercial Manager at Trinity Park Events, James Young, Event Manager at Ipswich Borough Council, Mick Parker, Managing director of Parker Communications and academics from UCS.

The event will take place at UCS, in the iconic Waterfront Building, where enterprising students of the BA (Hons) Event Management| degree course have been instrumental in bringing the conference together. It is being supported by Sure Communication, UCS, UCS Union, Venue 77 and Loch Fyne.

Britain for Events is an annual marketing campaign designed to promote Britain as a world class destination for events of all types and celebrate the knowledge and skill of those that host, produce and manage those events.

"As a campaign we’re keen to underline the diversity of the events’ products across the UK,” comments Michael Hirst, from the Britain for Events campaign.

“UCS has an excellent event management qualification and the team there has pulled together an important conference that underlines Suffolk’s contribution to the UK events industry.”

Andrew Speed, UCS student and coordinator of this conference commented: “Suffolk is a destination that lends itself to great events, both indoor and outdoor, business or leisure and we wanted to use the Britain for Events campaign to underline the importance of these events to the local economy, as well as looking at ways we can grow the role of events in this area.”
