A final year BA (Hons) Dance| student from UCS has recently been selected as one of fifteen national student representatives for Dance UK|- the national advocacy organisation which supports dancers and their careers, working with politicians, national organisations and individuals to develop dance provision and expertise in the sector.

Demi Milton will act as Dance UK’s ‘person on the ground’ at UCS, directly connecting UCS students to Dance UK who believe the student community to be a big part of the dance sector. The appointment of Demi as a student representative gives UCS students the opportunity to put their passion for advocating dance related issues to good use, whilst strengthening their professional networks.

As a student rep, Demi has been busily picking up on burning issues and relevant concerns, passing on key information about the benefits offered by Dance UK student membership, and spreading the word about important dance industry initiatives through their everyday networks. Demi's role as a Dance UK student representative is to develop awareness of dance and Dance UK amongst colleagues at UCS and to blog about initiatives from Dance UK which involve students.

Demi said: “Being a Dance UK student representative is a fantastic opportunity to broaden my knowledge of what is happening and what is current in the dance world. It gives me a chance to spread the word about dance to the university.”
