The UCS School of Arts and Humanities is pleased to welcome internationally acclaimed artists Langlands & Bell back to Ipswich for a special lecture taking place this evening.
Langlands & Bell, the artists behind the recently unveiled Question?, were commissioned by UCS as part of the Arts Intervention Project. At the lecture this evening they will present the artwork, giving an insight into the creative process and the development of the work.
The two part work titled is located in two prominent places on the UCS Ipswich campus linking the northern and southern parts of the site. Combining traditional materials and techniques with modern technology it provides a visual, topographical and experiential connection between the two areas.
“The role of any University is to foster communication and enquiry and enable people to question the world around us by engaging critically with it in different ways and on numerous different levels. ‘Question?’ a sculpture in two related parts, each sited in prominent positions on the campus, voices this reality by simultaneously symbolising and enacting a question.” Langlands & Bell (2011)
This lecture coincides with an on-going exhibition of other works by Langlands & Bell in the UCS Waterfront Gallery until 5th January 2012.
