UCS to host Fine Art mini-residencies

Sep 8 2011 5:00PM

The UCS Fine Art department will host ‘mini-residencies’ from October 2011 until April 2012 as part of this year’s national Artists Access to Art Colleges (AA2A) project. UCS is one of 32 participating institutions across the country.

AA2A gives four artists and designer makers the opportunity to access UCS facilities, from computers to workshops, and dark rooms to libraries, to develop their work. The scheme benefits UCS’ students, who are able to work alongside the artists and gain a valuable insight into the art world outside further and higher education, as well as enriching the department by bringing in ideas and techniques which may not otherwise be present in the education environment.

The BA (Hons) Fine Art degree| at UCS covers a wide range of media approaches across a spectrum of contemporary fine art practice including sculpture, installation, painting, performance, photo media and video. This scheme is a great example of how students are encouraged to develop both their confidence and a strong professional awareness throughout the degree.

AA2A is a national project funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council, England and the participating institutions.
